There really isn’t more to areas until you have other entities to add. You can create areas based on their room ( eg “Kitchen”) or where they are in a room (eg “Home Entertainment Center”). You can set your office as a zone and use a cloud service to detect when you leave. Zones are not specific rooms or areas in your home, but rather geographic locations. A Person does not even need to be on the same network as Home Assistant to trigger actions. Zones allow you to specify a specific region for presence detection. What are the different types of entities? How do you make them? All entities can be created in the “Configuration” menu. Maybe the time of day and day of the week if you only want this happening when you come home from work.The door sensor you trip when you open the front door.The streaming service or storage device that has the song you want to play.You or the device you are carrying that identifies you to Home Assistant, like your smartphone.An entity is anything that exists in Home Assistant. You need to tell Home Assistant what entities need to interact with each other. Imagine you want to set up your Home Assistant to play your favorite song when you come home from work.
